What is Machine Learning?

Machine learning is having a moment—just look at your Facebook feed. Almost everything you see is picked just for you by a computer, because it thinks you’ll like them.

Whereas normal programs follow strict instructions, (if this, then that), a machine learning algorithm is programmed to recognize patterns and use them to make predictions. The more data / feedback it processes, the better its predictions will be.
